Our Story

BASTE wood products believes in the Native American proverb,
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

In this light, BASTE wood products makes high quality, hand crafted,
proudly Philippine-made goods that is environment –friendly.
We reuse, recycle and re-create new things from discarded pruned branches and damaged timber
of Honduras Mahogany and Teak hardwoods in cooperation with MARSSE Plantations.

BASTE works for MARSSE Plantations but in his spare time, operates wood working as a hobby.
We are a small family enterprise with a husband on the design and production
and the wife on the sales and marketing duty.
The children help out in the workshop in their own little way.

We make pepper mills and saltshakers in various designs and sizes,
small wood objects, and sometimes even furniture.

Pepper mills and Saltshakers
Our pepper mills and saltshakers are primarily composed of
Honduras Mahogany or Teak hardwood, the primary produce of MARSSE Plantations.
Sometimes by chance, we come across a native species
like Narra or Kamagong that provide diversity in the plantation.

Our pepper mill and saltshaker parts are imported from the U.S.A.
All stainless steel components compared to locally distributed imported pepper mills
which have plastic grinder parts. Finished in all natural wood and wax.
Our most popular design has the pepper mill top resembles the native "Salakot" hat
while the body looks like the "Banga" or earthen jar.

Peppermills are available in sizes of 4 inches, 12 inches and 24 inches.
Saltshakers are paired with the 4 inch pepper mill for table tops.
Other sizes can be manufactured by special order.

Furniture
Occasionally, we encounter hardwoods big enough to produce furniture.
Samples shown here are mostly for our personal use.
Sometimes when the wood is insufficient to construct a solid piece, we employ creative means
to utilize the wood like the bar table and the hat and coat rack samples.

Other Wood Products
Aside from pepper mills, saltshakers and furniture, we try to create functional art
and décor like candle holders, votives, vases, goblets, mirrors with wood frames.
Most were given out as gifts to family and friends.

We will confirm and release tracking numbers and products for only cleared check payment deposits.

We accept ONLY CASH PAYMENTS for pick-up orders particularly for large wood products.

for our availability schedules and location directions.

Standard delivery charges will be added on to Product Price for the Total Payment Amount.

A 4 inch pepper mill or saltshaker can fit a Small Size Pouch.
A set of 4 inch pepper mill and saltshaker can fit a Medium Size Pouch.
The 12 inch and 24 inch pepper mills have to be exactly weighed before being sent to know the accurate cost.
